Justin Farrell, Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, with a secondary appointment in our department, has won the ASA’s Altruism, Morality, and Social Solidarity Section’s 2016 Outstanding Published Book Award for his work ‘The Battle for Yellowstone: Morality and the Sacred Roots of Environmental Conflict.’ In the book, Justin ‘shows how the unprecedented conflict over Yellowstone is not all about science, law, or economic interests, but more surprisingly, is about cultural upheaval and the construction of new moral and spiritual boundaries in the American West.’ Congratulations Justin!
