Graduate student Sarah Brothers has won the Martin Levine Student Paper Award from the Sociologists’ AIDS Network at the American Sociological Association. In the paper she questioned the gendered assumptions in the scholarship on injection drug users. The award announcement cited her for “a rich, theoretically-driven contribution to our understanding of power dynamics within the IDU community that may reveal novel intervention opportunities for HIV prevention.”
