Wyrtzen Wins 2016 Social Science History Association President’s Book Award

Faculty Awards and Recognition
November 29, 2016

Associate Professor Jonathan Wyrtzen has won the 2016 Social Science History Association President’s Book Award for his book,  Making Morocco: Colonial Intervention and the Politics of Identity (Ithaca, NY: Cornell University Press, 2015). The book was unanimously selected for the award and cited as an “extraordinary work of social science history.” With pellucid prose, Wyrtzen engages with the most important theorists of colonialism and nationalism, while utilizing Bourdieu’s Field Theory in order to place social actors within coherent action frames. Professor Wyrtzen is Associate Professor in Sociology  with courtesy appointments in International Affairs and History. Fantastic work, Jonathan!
