Valentin Lehmbruck is a master’s student at the Max Weber Institute of Sociology in Heidelberg, specializing in the ‚Global and Comparative Sociology‘ program. He earned his B.A. in sociology from the same institution.
Guided by the tradition of historical sociology, he is currently working toward two larger research projects. One project examines how imperial entanglements have persisted in or even shaped the reconstitution of the German sociological field after the Second World War. More specifically, this first project traces the reception of German imperial ethnologist Richard Thurnwald among the first postwar generation of German sociologists. A second project aims to reframe the histories of decolonization in South Asia through a field-theoretic lens. Valentin is also interested in the philosophy of science and critical theory.
