New Publication by Candas Pinar

Graduate student Candas Pinar has a new article out in the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs. In it, she argues that unifying notions of Islam often undermine meaningful differences. She analyzes Turkish parliamentary debates to show that the Justice and Development Party privileges a totalizing interpretation of Islam in order to promote national unity, but does so at the expense of nonconforming religious communities.
