Joseph Hernandez

Joseph is a first year doctoral student in the Sociology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies departments. His research seeks to highlight the social inequality that people of color, queer people, and women face daily, as well as the social processes behind the persistence of the various forms of prejudice they face. These interests were reflected in his undergraduate honors thesis, “A Place for Politics: The Role of Undergraduate Education in Political Socialization”, in which Joseph explored the role of universities’ coursework, administrative policies, and community narratives in shaping American undergraduates’ perspectives on race, ethnicity, and queerness.
