Karlson Preuss

Postdoctoral Fellow

Karlson Preuss is a historical sociologist focusing on the social conditions of knowledge production, including those of sociological knowledge itself. His current project investigates the social positionality of historiography, with particular attention to the ways legal, medical, and theological professions produce and mobilize historical knowledge. He received his PhD in Sociology from Bielefeld University and is a Research and Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Sociology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. From 2026 to 2028, he is a Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Yale University, supported by a Walter Benjamin Fellowship from the German Research Foundation.
