Zihan’s research interest revolves around family demography and economic sociology. She is currently very interested in the gendered dynamics of labor division within families, and its implications for women reintegrating into the workforce after childbirth. Zihan wants to explore the effects of different maternity leaves on women’s postpartum employment, especially for different occupations. Would women who are on longer maternity leaves find it more difficult to return to work under the hiring freeze and Covid-19? If so, does this difference occur across occupational and educational levels?
