“I am delighted that Dr. Mira Debs will be joining the Education Studies Program as its Executive Director. Her extensive experience with the program as well as her familiarity with New Haven schools will be an invaluable asset to me as I begin my position as Faculty Director of Education Studies and Professor of Sociology.”

Mira added “With the arrival of Grace Kao, who will be joining as the program’s inaugural Faculty Director, it’s an exciting time to be building a community of scholars and students researching education at Yale.”

Mira will be with her PhD in Sociology this spring. Per her webpage “Her research focuses on how groups form collective identity through objects, history and their childrens’ schooling. Her research cases have included studies on Italian art, India’s independence struggle, and the post-civil rights memory in the American South.” She has published in Nations and Nationalism as well as Cultural Sociology.  Congratulations
