Recent Departmental graduates Shai Dromi (PhD 2016) and Andrew Cohen (PhD 2017) have been awarded the 2018 ASA Altruism, Morality, and Social Solidarity Section’s Outstanding Published Article Award for “Advertising Morality: Maintaining moral worth in a stigmatized profession.”  The article was conceived at Yale and recently published in Theory and Society.  Dromi currently works at Harvard University and Cohen is an advertising professional.

Our 2015 graduate Sorcha Brophy gained an Honorable Mention in the ASA Religion Section’s Distinguished Article Award competition.  This recognition was for her item, “Orthodoxy as Project: Temporality and Action in an American Protestant Denomination” in Sociology of Religion 77, no. 2 (2016).  Dr. Brophy now lectures in the Public Policy Studies Program at the University of Chicago.
