Till Hilmar, a third year graduate student, has his work featured in the journal Memory Studies this month. Hilmar’s paper, entitled “Storyboards of remembrance: Representations of the past in visitors’ photography at Auschwitz” combines a range of methods to explore how and why photography matters for the way the past is remembered by visitors of the Auschwitz memorial site. The article “investigates the role of visual perception and visual techniques of memory for visits to memorial sites and discusses the significance of historical imagination in linking the past with the present.” Congratulations Till!
