Yale Sociology Ph.D. candidate Jean-Baptiste Gallopin appeared on France 24 on January 2, 2019 to discuss the current wave of protests in Sudan. Gallopin’s research examines collective behavior in revolutions and post-revolutionary environments. His forthcoming article in Democracy & Security, entitled Dilemma and Cascades in the Armed Forces - The Tunisian Revolution, traces the possibility of mutinies during mass uprisings to the dilemma of repression and a fear of violent split among officers of the police and the military. Prior to his arrival at Yale, Gallopin worked as the Sudan researcher for Amnesty International.
