The film “Crazy Rich Asians,” opening in theaters this month, may help to challenge stereotypes about Asian American men as unattractive, according to an article published on August 3, 2018 in the Washington Post. The article cites Grace Kao’s collaborative work (with Kelly Stamper Balistreri and Kara Joyner) by referencing it as a study, “which focused on the romantic and sexual involvement among young adults, found that ‘with the exception of Filipino men, Asian men are significantly less likely than white men to be currently involved with a romantic partner’.” The findings were published in 2015 in Population Research and Policy Review, a peer-reviewed journal.
