Professor Frederick Wherry has been elected vice-president of the Social Science History Association (SSHA). He will become president of the SSHA in 2018. The Social Science History Association is an interdisciplinary group of scholars that shares interests in social life and theory; historiography, and historical and social-scientific methodologies. He follows a line of distinguished scholars in this role, including Yale Sociology Professor Julia Adams who led the organization from 2008-2009. Professor Wherry is the author of numerous books and articles, and is a pillar in the Yale Sociology Department as he co-directs the Center for Cultural Sociology and serves as a faculty fellow at the Institute for Social and Policy Studies.
