Carla’s broad research interests lie in the study of labeling and stigmatization processes among collectivities and the interaction of these processes with the self.
Her Master’s dissertation focused on the meaning-making of the carceral experiences of women formerly incarcerated in Mexico City, and the ways in which these experiences shaped their understandings of themselves, navigating stigmatization and gender.
