Kayla Thomas is a Sociology PhD candidate at Yale University. Her research interests lie at the nexus of neighborhood transformation, belonging, and ontological precarity, specifically as they relate to politically and economically marginalized communities. Her current dissertation project is an ethnographic study of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and the ways in which long-term neighborhood residents navigate sociospatial changes across time
