Maila Mertens

Maila Mertens is a PhD candidate at the University of Zurich, affiliated with the “URPP Human Reproduction Reloaded” and the Department of Sociology.

Her research examines the acceptance of assisted reproductive technologies (ART), with a particular focus on the gendered dynamics involved. She is interested in the sociocultural dimensions of reproductive decision-making, exploring how ART impacts different family constellations and contributes to changing family structures. She primarily uses quantitative research methods to investigate these questions, employing statistical analyses to identify patterns and trends while remaining curious about qualitative approaches.
